ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lauren Denitzio (b. 1983) is an interdisciplinary artist and musician living and working in Los Angeles. Their visual work encompasses drawing, painting, text works and zines, focusing on depicting a radical imaginary of domestic space and life outside of heteronormative, patriarchal and capitalist norms. They are also the frontperson and songwriter of the band Worriers, which has performed internationally with Against Me!, John K Samson & The Winter Wheat, The Hold Steady, Anti Flag, Julien Baker, The Wonder Years, and more. The band is releasing their third album “You or Someone You Know” with 6131 Records in March of 2020.

Their work has been exhibited at Recession Art Culturefix (New York, NY), Storefront (New York, NY), Rush Arts Gallery (New York, NY), Giant Robot (Los Angeles, CA) and Wayfarers (Brooklyn, NY), as well as solo exhibitions at Gallery 5 (Richmond, VA) and Masthead (Philadelphia, PA). Their writing and visual work has appeared in Shifter, Sick Zine, International Girl Gang Underground, Hoax, Got A Girl Crush and RE/VISIONIST. Denitzio has also been commissioned by artists and organizations such as Ani DiFranco, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jeff Rosenstock, Don Giovanni Records and La MaMa Experimental Theater Club.

As a designer, they have been a contributor to Razorcake, the nation's only 501(c)(3) non-profit music magazine supporting DIY punk, for over a decade. They were also a founding member of For the Birds, a New York-based feminist collective dedicated to challenging social inequality through DIY feminist cultural activism. Denitzio received their BFA in Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design and their MFA in Fine Arts at Parsons the New School for Design.
